Dyson V11 vs V10 vs V8 Comparison Review

You’re likely familiar with major brands of vacuum cleaners in the home vacuum market. These vacuum cleaners come in cordless, canister and upright versions that will clean your home.

Although there are many vacuum cleaner manufacturers available, the number of cordless vacuum cleaners on offer is very limited. Dyson are our top choice. This article compares the Dyson V11, V10, and V8 models.

REVIEW OF DYSON CORDLESS VSERIES

The cordless vacuum series by Dyson are among the most popular in the cordless market. This is due to not only the strength of Dyson but also because of their performance, reliability, and battery life.

We compared the Dyson V10 to the V8 in our review. However, the V11 was released shortly after that article was written. The V11, the fifth installment of the series looks like this.

The V11 model is worth the hype and price or would you be better off choosing the V8 model, which is more affordable? Is V10 the best choice between V11’s premium features, V8’s price and balance?

Let’s take a look ….

DESIGN

Although the Dyson V11, V10, and V8 series look similar, there are important differences . They can be used either as stick or hand-held vacuum cleaners. However, they activate when they are held in one’s hand.

The trigger switch is a design feature to maximize battery life by cutting off power when the trigger is released. While some customers find it useful, others find it uncomfortable to hold for prolonged periods of time.

When you look at the assembly of the parts, the subtle differences between V11, V10, and V8 are obvious. The V8’s dust bin is not perpendicular to its extension wand. However, the subsequent versions were made differently.

AIRFLOW DESIGN IMPROVED

An alternative design that improves the airflow between the cleaning head and the motor is available in the V10, V11 models. To improve performance and increase airflow, the V10 and V11 had the wand and dust bin in tandem. This re-design has resulted in significant improvements to the motor. The air watts of suction have increased significantly.https://3570c89cd42b9c08cf32e7eb3ff529b9.safeframe.googlesyndication.com/safeframe/1-0-38/html/container.html

NEW V11 DIGITAL DISPLAY

Dyson V11 Torque Drive Cordless Vacuum Cleaner, Blue

The V8 and V10 do not include any video notifications or digital screens, unlike the newer model. This is the main difference between the three models.

The V11 has a digital screen that shows a variety of features, including:

  • device performance,
  • Cleaning mode
  • Battery life remaining

The LCD screen at the V11 allows for intermittent switching between the three suction modes, Eco, Auto and Boost. The Eco Mode produces the weakest suction, while the Boost mode creates the strongest.https://imasdk.googleapis.com/js/core/bridge3.496.0_en.html#goog_1645773101https://3570c89cd42b9c08cf32e7eb3ff529b9.safeframe.googlesyndication.com/safeframe/1-0-38/html/container.html

SUCTION POWER & PERFORMANCE

DYSON V8

With each release, Dyson has made substantial improvements in this area. Below is a table that shows the suction power in air watts for each power mode. The V8 has only two power modes: low and high. It is important to remember that in Boost Mode drains the battery very quickly, so it should not be used frequently.

Suction Mode Dyson DysonV10 DysonV11
Suction Mode 2 28 Air Watts 15.8 Air Watts 26 Air Watts
Suction Mode 1 N/A 33.8 Air Watts 38.6 Air Watts
Maximum Suction Mode 115 Air Watts 151 Air Watts 185 Watts

We pointed out that the Dyson V10’s air watts are significantly lower at lower settings. This means they won’t be able to replace your or full-sized upright vacuum , if you have a carpeted house.

Dyson claims there is a 20% improvement in V11 suction power compared to V10’s.

The V11 has a max suction of 185AW which is nearly double the value of the earlier models. V10 offers 155AW, while V8 can only 115AW.

REVOLUTIONS P.M. COMPARED

Each new Dyson cordless V-stick has been shown to improve suction. V8 motor spins at 110,000 revolutions per minute (rpm), but V10 and V11 spin at 125,000 RPM.

ROTATING BLADE DESIGN DIFFERENCES

Dyson made the V10’s rotating blades stronger than the V8, but the V11 blade is still much more efficient than the V8. The V11’s blades have a new S-shape and are therefore more efficient, longer and thinner.

IMPROVED CYCLONIC SYSTEM EFFICENCY

The V8 has a two-tier 15 cyclonic system. However, the V10/V11 models have a two tier 14 cyclonic system. They create more force than the V8. The system generates strong centrifugal forces similar to a hurricane. It is designed to collect dirt and dust particles as small as 0.3 microns.

FILTRATION

The motor filter on all three Dyson V models (including the most recent V11) has been updated. This means that less dust particles and allergens are expelled while vacuuming.

All models come with washable HEPA filter. However, the Dyson V8 has an additional central filter. They can capture 99.97% of particles as small and as tiny as 0.3 microns according to HEPA standard.https://3570c89cd42b9c08cf32e7eb3ff529b9.safeframe.googlesyndication.com/safeframe/1-0-38/html/container.html

BATTERY

MODEL CAPACITY CHARGE TIME MAX RUN TIME RUN TIME BOOST MODE
DYSON V8 2,800 mAh 3.5 hours 40 minutes 6 minutes
DYSON V10 2,600 mAh 3.5 hours 60 minutes 6 minutes
DYSON V11 3,600 mAh 4.5 hours 60 minutes 12 minutes

All three models use fade-free batteries. Regardless of whether your battery is full or low, the suction level remains the same. However, they offer different cleaning modes and provide different time frames.

Your battery will drain faster if you have higher power settings. On low suction, the V8’s 2,800 mAh 6-cell Lithiumion battery can run for 40 minutes. Improvements are delivered with 7-cell Nickel-Cobalt-Aluminium lithium-ion battery on the V10 and V11 that runs for up to 60-minutes on Eco Mode.

These maximum times were taken from tests with no powerhead connected and don’t reflect normal usage.

The V11’s V11 battery has intelligent succion control as well as remaining battery notification. Dyson could have made it possible to replace the battery to attract more customers who would like to swap batteries. However, the battery is 20-25 minutes longer than the average.

The V8 and V10 take 6-minutes to run, while the V11 takes 12-minutes in burst mode. This is a significant improvement. The V8 and V10 take 3.5 hours to fully charge, while the V11 takes only 4.5 hours.

Dyson also claims that V10 and V11’s battery will last at least 15 years, so you don’t have to worry about them being replaced before you replace your vacuum.https://imasdk.googleapis.com/js/core/bridge3.496.0_en.html#goog_1645773103https://3570c89cd42b9c08cf32e7eb3ff529b9.safeframe.googlesyndication.com/safeframe/1-0-38/html/container.html

We all love a tidy home, so it’s good to know that all of the models come with acoustically-engineered docking station which can be wall-mounted. It makes it simple to store vacuums and all accessories when they are not being used .

The chart below shows the attachments that are included with each model variant. Check it out to determine which model is best for you.

The V11’s as well as V10’s floor heads allow the brush head to inspect the resistance of the floor and adjust the cleaning height while also calibrating the suction power.

The V11 includes the Torque Head Drive which Dyson claims cleans 25% more than the Direct Drive cleaning heads.

The V11’s dustbin storage capacity is equal to the V10’s. This is 40% more than the V8’s.

Although the Dyson V10 is more loud than the Dyson V11 vacuum cleaner, the Dyson V10’s cleaning modes can cause results to vary. These models are among the quietest vacuum cleaners.

VIDEO COMPARISON

We have a video comparison of the Dyson H11, H10, and H8 from Which? This video will explain the differences between the Dyson V11, V10 and V8 vacuums.https://www.youtube.com/embed/XDNZl3LZtNc?rel=0&modestbranding=1&controls=1&showinfo=1&fs=1&wmode=transparent&wmode=opaquehttps://imasdk.googleapis.com/js/core/bridge3.496.0_en.html#goog_1645773106https://3570c89cd42b9c08cf32e7eb3ff529b9.safeframe.googlesyndication.com/safeframe/1-0-38/html/container.html

VERDICT

This concludes our comparison between the Dyson V11 and V10 vs V8. The V8 is a good value, even though it’s a few years old. However, it still delivers excellent cleaning performance. The V10 offers a significant improvement over the V8, while the V11 provides the most recent cutting-edge technology. The decision between these models will depend on your preferences, budget, and home size. The V10 and V11 models with a longer runtime would be more beneficial if you have a larger house.

In summary, the V8 has great quality; the V10 is much better but the V11 simply is the best!
